Position 1: Senior Research Engineer


Global Engineering and Materials, Inc. is a high-tech firm that provides consulting services and specialized software tool development for modeling, simulation & analysis of Fracture & Fatigue, Reliability, Risk & Uncertainty, and Design & Optimization in advanced engineering and material applications. We are seeking a senior level engineer with in-depth experience in fields of computational mechanics, mechanics of composite, and advanced structural design. Experience in commercial FEM application and customization is considered a plus. The successful applicant will work on physics-based modeling, analysis, and advanced FEM solver development. Job duties will include: development of advanced FEM algorithms, modeling and simulation using in-house and commercial software, review, documentation and project QA, and providing guidance and assistance to other team members across a broad range of project areas. 
 
The successful candidate(s) will have a strong technical background along with an MS or PhD degree. Required qualifications are listed below: 
 
▪ MS or Ph.D. in Mechanics, Aerospace, Structural Engineering or other related field. 
▪ Minimum of 2 years experience developing FEM solver algorithms and familiar with FEM technologies.  
▪ Proven Fortran or C++ skills with knowledge in modern programming techniques including object oriented design and software development procedure. 
▪ Excellent communication skills, works well with others to accomplish team objectives, and willingness to take a leadership and mentoring role. 
▪ Experience in developing user-defined modules for commercial FEM software considered a plus.

Position 2: Software Engineer, Entry or Senior Level


Global Engineering and Materials, Inc. is a research and engineering consulting company that provides technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the applied science. Our team of MS and PhD-level engineers/scientists has a broad range of technical expertise in computational mechanics, composite mechanics, computer software and simulation, integrity and durability structural analysis, and probabilistic mechanics and reliability engineering. We are seeking a motivated software engineer to support the development of advanced computational tool for commercial and DOD industries. In addition to assist in commercial software development, the successful applicant will work on projects involving leading edge technologies such as advanced structural design, fatigue and fracture analysis, and physics-based modeling and simulation. Job duties will include: develop, maintain and provide support for in-house software development environment, software design and implementation for the FEM Pre module (creation and manipulation of advanced FEM features), the Post module (FEM data persistence, post-processing and visualization of FEM results), related GUI development and scripting.  
 
Required qualifications are summarized below: 
 
▪ B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, engineering, physics, applied mechanics or a related discipline.  
▪ Experience in FEM pre and post processing and using commercial finite element tools such as ABAQUS, PATRAN, and LS-DYNA.  
▪ Proficient in C++, scripting languages, object-oriented design; familiarity with the common software development, testing/QA/bug management, and software training procedure.  
▪ Demonstration of creative problem-solving skills. 
▪ Strong and written communication skills. 
▪ Experience in GUI design and developing MSC.PATRAN using PCL considered a plus.
